There are some moments that feel like they were pulled straight out of a movie—and Tyler and Abby’s proposal was exactly that.

I had the great honor of capturing Tyler proposing to Abby in Missouri’s Capitol in Jefferson City!

Tyler planned everything so intentionally. It was a crisp November evening, right before sunset, when the light turns soft and golden and everything feels a little more magical. He had the space set with flowers and candles, creating the most romantic, intimate atmosphere for one of the biggest moments of their lives. What Abby didn’t know was that both of their parents were tucked away nearby, quietly waiting to witness it all unfold.

As the sun dipped lower in the sky, Tyler got down on one knee—and in that moment, time seemed to slow. Abby’s reaction was everything: pure joy, surprise, and the kind of emotion you can’t fake. And just like that, they were engaged.

Right after, we ran outside to chase the last light of the day. The sky was fading fast, but those few minutes gave us the dreamiest golden-hour portraits—soft, glowy, and full of that just-engaged energy. You could feel how excited they were, still processing everything, laughing and holding onto each other like they didn’t want the moment to end.

Then we rushed back inside, where the celebration continued. Their parents came out from hiding, and the room filled with hugs, tears, and the kind of happiness that only comes from sharing something this special with the people you love most. We captured a few quick family photos before transitioning into more intimate, candlelit portraits of just the two of them—quiet, romantic, and full of warmth.

But the night didn’t stop there.

To top it all off, Tyler had planned a surprise engagement party at his parents’ house. When Abby walked in, surrounded by friends and family ready to celebrate them, it was the perfect ending to an already unforgettable day.

Every detail came together so beautifully. The timing, the light, the emotions, the people—it truly couldn’t have been more perfect. And being there to document it all was such an honor.
